!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Until I saw this.
Passing by a local RV dealer today, I did a double-take and almost turned around to get a closer look at it. But I waited until I got home so that I could pull some pictures off of the internets instead of subjecting you to the best my potato cam could muster. I’m not even in the market or anything, but for a moment I thought I was looking at some fascinating resto-mod.
But it’s not a resto-mod! Apparently this is a NEW trailer, called the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Combining old styling cues with today’s modern niceties, it even comes in different colors.
(What, were you expecting a chessboard floor and matching interior colors? Or perhaps wood paneling and shag carpeting? ...Yeah, I kinda was too.)
But the important question is- what would you tow one with? It’s too much to pull behind those ’02-’05 T-birds. How about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! retro “Big 10” Silverados instead?

Looked at one whilst we were getting dry fucked on our trade-in. Frankly not impressed. Looks good on the outside, interior is basic as fuck.

Yeah, the interior looks pretty much the same as any other modern RV. Except for maybe that “park model”-style front window. I don’t recall seeing anything like that in a while.

Me too. I prefer the dinette booth under the front window.

Until more recently it was the vintage Airstream trailers we got on shows a lot, there are a few people that own fleets and rent them all over the country. I did see a couple really long rectangular trailers at a show pretty recently located at the cruise ship pier/building here in SF. Some have been cut to transform into bars and stuff too. The really old Airstreams are cool, I always go in them and check them out.

If you trick out an Airstream you can get close.

I don’t understand why the white stripe stops short on the front. This is much better imo.

They’re trying to copy the original, but the body creases aren’t quite there.

Also amusing, Shasta reissued an “Airflyte” design not long ago (yes, this is late model):
Winnebago has also reincarnated the iconic 70s “Brave” line with traditional styling:

VERY cool! I can’t even tell that the Shasta is new at all. The Winnebago on the other hand kinda has an early 2000s retro vibe to it, similar to what certain automakers were doing in that era. Nice.

The Shasta is more of a replica than something new with a retro look, I guess. You are probably familiar with the 70s model the new Winnebago is seeking to mimic:
Although I’d never want to own one as I don’t like camping nor driving something like this, I find old motorhomes interesting.
